Questions Answers
Sonic fans are really passionate about how the character is portrayed in games, movies and comics. This is especially true with several iterations of the character being utilized concurrently (Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, Boom Sonic, Movie Sonic). I myself care deeply for the IP. It must be difficult to balance the many faces of the character in a way that is respectful of the way fans expect Sonic to be portrayed. With that in mind, from a brand manager's perspective, do you think it is at all risky to have so many different portrayals of a single character sharing the spotlight, rather than adhere to one consistent design? Thank you so much for your time! I loved the movie, and Sonic Mania was a blast. That's an interesting and insightful question worthy of a very long response; however, I will try to do it quickly.
The short answer is "yes, it can be complicated" when you have different iterations of your key characters, storylines and worlds. However, we pay great respect and homage to where Sonic and friends have been over the years. The fact that we have great talent such as Iizuka-san, Nishiyama-san, Sonic Team in Japan, and numerous very core fans internally within our group in Los Angeles and globally, helps to make sure that we keep our bearings as we look to innovate on a 29-year-old brand that has many different types of fans that engage with many different forms of content. But the challenge is also what makes things fun! Never a dull moment in Sonic-land.
The definitive version of Sonic 1 and 2 (Christian whitehead ports) are still only available on mobile devices. The fans (including myself) have been asking for SEGA to release these versions of Sonic 1 and 2 on to console but so far they only have them on mobile. Is there any plans at all for you guys to bring these ports to console so people can enjoy the definitive version of these classic games? Time will tell! Working with talented developers like Christian Whitehead was wonderful for Sonic Mania. While we don't have any news on these ports right now, we're glad to see that so many people would like them!
Is it a coincidence that your name is Ivo and Nintendo of America's president is Bowser? What are you guys scheming? Who told you this? Obviously, this is categorically false and there's no secret alliance of video game executives who share names with the villains of their games.
(p.s. - Doug, let's convene the council. They're onto us.)
Is there a possibility more Sonic games will be ported to PC in the near future? Quite a lot of fans out there (myself included) would love to be able to play Colors, Unleashed, Heroes, and so on on Steam We're committed to continuing to bring more Sonic games to PC as we've done with many of our past titles - no news yet, but stay tuned!
Paramount doesn’t have any plans for a Sonic movie sequel right now. Are you hoping Paramount and Sega can work again on a sequel someday? As you mention, there is nothing to announce, but speaking for myself and my family, we would love to see another film. My kids are still quoting me lines from the movie every day and coming up with new storylines.
How has the brand of sonic evolved since your time as chief brand officer? Since 2015, our passionate Sonic Studio team here in Los Angeles and worldwide has been focused on going back to what made Sonic great originally but of course now with new twists and surprises. It's about one foot in the past and one foot in the future.
Fans know that we've been bringing back the brand's edginess, humor, and attitude, and now there's new Sonic mobile titles (including Sonic Racing on Apple Arcade), new console titles like Mania/Forces/Team Sonic Racing, a great new movie (by the way the DVD just came out yesterday with a lot of very cool extras including History of Sonic and cast behind the scenes), new comics, many new consumer products (toys, collectibles, etc.), new short form animations, new social media channels, and the Sonic Boom TV show.
Is the “Sonic Boom” branch of the franchise still a thing at this point, or is it more or less retired? We plan to keep Sonic Boom airing and selling games, but at the moment there are no plans for a new Sonic Boom specific TV series or game.
What's your fav sonic game? My favorite Sonic game would have to be the original Sonic the Hedgehog when the world was first introduced to our impatient, foot-tapping Blue Blur. Having now worked on multiple titles since joining Sega in 2015, I would have to add that Sonic Mania with its pixel-graphics, mashing up of multiple classic titles, and great new and re-imagined zones, would also be up there.
[deleted] It's an interesting idea that we're seeing more of in content. I think it's a fun way to take a brand and do something fresh BUT it has to be done with the right combination of brands and at the right time. There are brands that are synergistic and complementary and many examples of mashups that have made people scratch their heads.
Hello! I absolutely loved this movie and seeing Sonic be on the big screen was very exciting. I loved every moment of it! Just a small question, what do you think about the movie's success/reception? Were you surprised? Those of us at Sega that work on Sonic every day believe we work with a very special character. I'm very proud of the teamwork among all the groups involved with making this film. When you have that many people all pulling in the same direction and working collaboratively, passionately, and creatively, the magic happens.
Personally, seeing first-hand the talent of all the people involved and the care and desire to make a great Sonic film, my spidey senses told me that we had something special. That being said, the fact that the movie broke film records for a video game adaptation is a big testament to all those who worked tirelessly on this project as well as the growing fanbase that supported the film.
Hey Ivo! First of all, thank you so much for working for my favorite brand and franchise. Sonic has shaped up my life and I wouldn't have it any other way, so thank you for your hard work! As for the question(s), I'd love to know how the Sonic Movie is affecting the Sonic Franchise since it's (frankly unexpected) universal success. Has anything changed in the development team for games, shows, etc, since now there's this Movie Sonic that everyone out there loves? And how about a little something for this next game we're all impatiently waiting for information on? Can you help us clench our thirst with a little tease maybe? The community would absolutely adore you even more if you could :') Thank you for everything <3 Thanks Dakiii.
So the success of the film has positively impacted many areas of the brand from bringing in a new generation of fans to reaching fans in places all over the world that may not be as accessible for us alone. The team and I have been building the Sonic brand over the last 5 years and what may have been "headwinds" initially when the new team was formed are turning to "tailwinds" (strong support).
From the inside, working on a brand that was viewed as "nostalgic" previously that has become very "relevant" is like pushing on a big snowball ball to help it gain speed and then it starts picking up momentum and starts rolling faster and faster--and then suddenly it's about just trying to keep up. It's a fortunate and exciting place. The brand's growth and success is presenting many new opportunities to tell new stories and deliver new content and products.
As for announcements, I need to let the teams do their "announcement thing" or they'll kill me :-)
What kind of announcements can we expect this year for Sonic? Can you give us a little hint? Username checks out. While I can't spoil what's to come, all our teams are working hard and we hope you'll all enjoy what's next! Thanks for being patient.
No questions, just a huge thank you from a longtime fan of all things Sega and Sonic. The Blue Blur will always be a huge part of my childhood, and the movie hit all the right notes. Thank you so much! Thank you so much for your and all the long-time fans' support over the years. That means a lot to all of us involved: The film-makers, Paramount Pictures, the movie cast, the entire production team, Sega (and its sister companies like Marza). All of us wanted to deliver a movie that would stand the test of time and that fans would enjoy. Everyone involved with the Sonic brand is dedicated to doing right by Sonic and giving him his rightful place in history as a top entertainment character.
When it comes to branding Sonic on an international level - do you see differences from country to country in how to tell the Sonic story/brand story of SEGA? Yes, there are differences as there are for other brands as well. For example, as you might expect, in places where game systems were readily available over the last 29 years, there is organically more awareness of Sonic from the games side of things. There are many countries around the world where consoles historically were hard to find. So, on a country-by-country basis, the brand may be better known for a mobile game, TV show, social media channel, or the movie, and maybe a bit less about the games.
Fortunately, we now have an expanding slate of varied content on many different platforms. With the digital explosion, virtually anyone anywhere can find some fun and meaningful way to engage with the Sonic brand. Accessibility for the fanbase is important to us -- we want to be where the fans are regardless of where they might be found on the map.
Since there have been a bunch of different styles/iterations of Sonic throughout the years, which "version" of sonic is your favorite and why? Personally, I love what we call "Modern Sonic" that came out of the Dreamcast transition to 3D. He's more athletic, looks sleeker, and appeals to a wide range of ages. I think Classic Sonic is timeless as well but for today's era, I like Modern the most.
Any plans for Amy Rose as a character? We've noticed she's been handled quite well over the last few games, cartoons and comics. Evolving Amy's character away from being a damsel-in-distress and into a much more empowered character was key for us. You've probably seen this a few times already, like in Sonic Boom, and you'll continue to see that for her as we move forward.
Ivo, have you read the IDW Sonic comics? If so,what are your thoughts on them? Yes. I've been enjoying the IDW series greatly. The addition of Tangle, Whisper, and Dr. Starline has added even more depth and character to the storylines. Can't wait to see where it keeps going...
Could we see ever remasters or remakes of older gaming titles such as Sonic Riders, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Sonic Shuffle, etc, on current generation consoles? No news there right now, but all things are possible.
How would you describe Sonic to someone who has never heard of Sonic before? Also what's your Sonic Forces OC? A confident, exciting, edgy, funny, loyal, and super speedy hedgehog that looks after his friends as they face off with a genius villain who wants to dominate the world with his army of robots. Whew. One sentence - that work?
As for my OC...Ivo the Hedgehog all the way.
What is your personal favorite piece of lore or story from Sonic's world? Remember the time Eggman blew up half the moon? I still remember.
Why has Sega chosen to encourage fan art and community projects, and what do you feel are the benefits of this policy? Hopefully it has come across over the years, but we love our fans. By embracing the fanbase, we can all enjoy Sonic together. Sonic Mania is a great example of truly embracing our fans and working with them to create amazing content all can enjoy. I don't know too many publishers who have done this or would have attempted this hybrid project (Christian and team working in partnership with Sonic Team) that turned out to be one of the best Sonic games of all time.
How would you describe your journey with this franchise and how do you feel about just the huge outpour of fan support the series gets, especially now thanks to the success of the Sonic Movie pulling in old fans and new ones? It's been exhilarating since Day 1. Working for an incredibly storied Japanese company, with its unique culture, history, and flagship brand Sonic, has been an amazing experience. Every day you spend with a great group of people who share the same vision dreaming up ways to take a unique 29-year-old brand from "nostalgia" to "relevant" in today's vastly different world.
With the formation of our team in 2015 and some of the things we did early on to surprise and delight audiences (many revealed during our 4-hour livestream for the 25th anniversary), things seemingly started clicking with fans. Since then, each day we've felt the growth and its only served to motivate us more and more. I've had long-time fans say to me "it's a fun time to be a Sonic fan," and that's the most rewarding thing about the job.
Hey Ivo, As an important figure on directing Sonic's brand, what do you feel are the most important lessons you have learned on the franchise since joining back in 2015? Are there any philosophies you carry when trying to appeal the Sonic brand to a wide audience? And are there certain target demographics that you prioritise the most, either hardcore fans or those who may not be in the loop (ha, get it? :P ) on what the franchise has to offer? Thanks for your continued work on the franchise thus far, I hope there's many great things to come in the near future! :) Though many of the following may seem intuitive, I still feel these are key and worth mentioning: 1. Know your brand. 2. Understand and respect your fanbase. 3. Create a team with different types of fans (new and old) to hear diverse points of view especially when looking to evolve a legacy brand. 4. Hire good people, trust them to do their work, and support them. 5. A good idea can come from anywhere so listen intently.
There are many others we can get into at another time.
As to your question about fans: as our fanbase has grown exponentially, we are focused on both long-time AND new audiences. The new audience needs to be brought up to speed, so we created a Sonic 101 video (you may have seen). They tend to be younger, and I hope they will become life-long fans. Many of them will have entered the Sonic brand due to the movie as opposed to many of us who came in from the games.
As for the long-time fans, we are very focused on them as well since they are such a rich part of Sonic's history and we hope they continue to grow with us in the future.
The Official Sonic Livestream is coming back today, isn’t it? Is there anything we should look out for in it? It is! I know the gang is really excited to say hello to everyone again. I also know they're doing it from home, so it will be an exciting one to watch live. I just hope our talented team remembers to clean up their living rooms before they go on. Content should be similar to what you've seen in past seasons, and we hope it'll bring a smile to your face.
What are your two cents on the story of Sonic's redesign for the movie? Do you think the film would have performed as well with the original design? The end result for the film was extremely positive and introduced Sonic to a whole new generation of fans in a fun, exciting way that long-time fans also enjoyed. I think getting the character right was key to the success of the film. Working with such passionate partners as the film-makers and studio ensured that when the fanbase spoke up that they were listened to. I think that was a big, pivotal moment in entertainment history. It shows you how much everyone working on Sonic values and respects the audience.
Where was your most favorite place that you have traveled to and why? I've been lucky to have traveled extensively for business and, more importantly, when I was 21 or so I backpacked internationally for almost two years working odd jobs to make money and living in various places.
Memories include sleeping overnight in train stations, campgrounds in a tent with a dirt floor, sleeping in a boss's unfinished house where stray cats would drop off dead mice into my sleeping bags every night, and meeting a variety of very nice and interesting people all along the way. Some of these wonderful young folks even invited me to live with their families as they knew I was far from home. So, favorite place was Greece and specifically the Greek Islands. The locals treated me with such hospitality and made me feel welcome.
Are there any big plans for the franchise this year or next year? As the other Ivo (Robotnik) would plan: world domination in the next two years. In all seriousness, we're always planning/cooking up special things for our fans to bring Sonic to people across the world. These next two years will be no different.
I really loved seeing Crush 40, Tee Lopes, and so many other people collaborating on the OST for Team Sonic Racing. I especially hope Crush 40 and Tee Lopes are here to stay. Can we know for sure if they're going to work on the music of upcoming titles? We can't promise anything, but we're big fans of their work and loved their creativity on Team Sonic Racing.
What do you see as the future of the Sonic brand as far as its general identity goes? Though it will take many forms, the future is about respecting the past while looking to evolve the brand and its characters and storylines for the future across all content, products, and platforms. Bringing high quality content to fans all over the world is our mission.
What’s your favorite SEGA console? Wow. Tough question -- too hard to choose between the Genesis and Dreamcast.
I'm playing a lot of the Genesis Mini nowadays and really love it. A number of our own staff contributed to support that and the Mini got great reviews, so we hope you'll enjoy playing Sonic on it!
How did you get this position at SEGA and what are your thoughts on being the chief brand officer of an iconic character? I'd been fortunate to spend many years working globally across movies, TV, and games in Hollywood at 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, and also Vivendi Universal. I got to work on brands from Marvel, Sony, Disney and others. I also worked on legacy brands like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.
When I started in 1998, games were almost an after-thought in the industry, but over the next 20 years, games ignited and became a powerhouse. When Sega reached out to me (a good friend referred me- thanks again Julie!), I jumped at the chance to re-build such a beloved and iconic brand globally. Hence began the journey. It's been a whirlwind ride and nowadays, I feel very grateful and honored that Sega has trusted me with the brand for the last five years. Also, I am grateful to the fans for their support over this time as we looked to return Sonic to the glory days!
What series you'd like to see Sonic crossover and do you see it being the same speed based platformer or in an entirely different genre like puzzle, shooter, RPG etc? To me, it could be anything. Sonic's abilities are conducive to many different types of genres, and one of his first appearances was actually in a racing game. We're open to fun ideas, and a few years back we even partnered with Square Enix to let them sneak the faux video game "Knuckles & Knuckles" into Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Who is your favourite Sonic character, canon or non-canon? My 9-year old daughter would like you all to know that my answers are: "Camouflage Sonic," "Rainbow Sonic," and "Sparkle Sonic."
What's your favorite Sonic related collectable item or merch? I'm a big fan of that special edition Sonic Mania statue and the Eggman Pumas but I'm interested to know yours from someone with full knowledge of the brand? So, true story: I personally flew to four of our factories producing the Sonic Mania Collector's edition for ten days of exhausting, detailed quality assurance work (with the help of one of our new Marketing team members that switched off with me). Making sure everything was worthy of our fans was, and still is, my main priority.
As for my favorites: I love the statues from Diamond Select and First 4 Figures. Jakks Pacific, Funko, and Build-A-Bear are making fun products that my daughters are great fans of as well!
Any plans to add Sonic to Total War: Warhammer 2? Not yet, but we're open to all sorts of fun ideas!

The fight had resolved in Cab and Espiritu’s favor, many powerful blows traded, and despite himself, despite everything in Espiritu telling him that now was the time to retreat, to be away from all of this… This, he still took the initiative, alongside Cab, to address any and all collateral damage their fight had caused which had been within his power to do. These people, who the pair Stand Users had said feared and distrusted the acts of Stand Users, and thus had fought him and Cab, were simply trying to live their lives as best as they could, after all, and there was so, so much harm in the world without adding yet more grudges to someone’s back.
Cabernet Sauvignon… I thought so lowly of you, yet as we fought for our lives, you seemed to have no idea, the observant Jaguar mused, finding himself, in spite of his status, minding him just a few touches less. He still wasn’t quite comfortable with people, per se, let alone ones with pasts he had been sure were as violent as Cab’s, but perhaps…
“Huh,” Cab remarked aloud soon after, in part hoping to actually talk with the intelligent predator, in part simply wanting to be heard, “for a place that keeps such a tight leash on stuff like this, we sure did just… Have this entire fight. That’s weird, right?” He didn’t wait for any sort of response besides that of his own gut. “Yeah, that’s weird… Something’s going down here, or about to. It’s almost like the people who should’ve kicked our asses by now are preparing for war.”
In the now-late night air as he and Espiritu tried to dry themselves off more, Cab’s worst fears were confirmed. The streets erupted in blue and red lights, sirens wailing, people dispersing. Both of them, of course, knew what this meant.
“Alright, we’re bailing now,” Cab continued, grumbling aloud as he looked at the watch, how late it was, “what a detour what was supposed to be a brief passing-through has been… I’ve completely missed the Taste of Fortuna. And here I was hoping to talk the finesse of cuisine with CaraMel Dansen, pick the brain and tastes of the young man who had the audacity to defy Chop Suey’s authority on International TV… Or maybe give a piece of my mind to that restaurant around here which up and stopped accepting shipments from our estate awhile ago.”
He shook his head, then, as if wondering why, at Espiritu’s quizzical look, he was talking about such things when he should be booking it. Was this seriously all that could come to his mind..?
Cab may have missed it, but as of when this goes up you still have a full 24 hours and some change to vote in the penultimate match of the round, a quantitative cooking match between two master chefs, a boxer, and a crooked courier.
Scenario:
Somewhere in the Slums, 11:17 P.M.
Emily stared down the apartment door, bad memories assaulting her like a horde of gnats. It had been weeks since she’d been to this particular ‘safehouse’, actively avoiding it since her live-in partner had left in an angry flurry with all her belongings. She couldn’t blame Aile for leaving, the young girl deserved much better than her anyway, but the thought of it still weighed heavily on her mind amongst the ever-growing mountain of more ultimately important problems.
Bringing the key to the dingy knob, and twisting it just the right way, the door opened to the dark residence with a blast of stale air as Emily stepped onto the welcome mat inside.. Everything is still as it was left weeks ago, pizza boxes on the coffee table, ‘clean’ clothes draped over the couch, fish tank running sans the fish Aile took in the breakup. Even before weeks of neglect, the place needed a cleaning desperately, and a moderate layer of dust covered everything in sight.
Except for an outline for where the welcome mat should be, having been moved very recently.
She froze for a split second, eyes darting around the small dwelling at key areas. The door to Aile’s room just to her left, the fishtank and far end of the walled-off kitchenette ahead of her, and the door to her room off to the right past the wall to the kitchen. No sound, no movement; the apartment seemed deserted save for her, and only barely lit by a stray street light out the window next to the fishless tank. She continued casually, shutting the door behind her and removing her suit jacket; the immense quiet of the room didn’t sit right; she was not alone here, it was just a matter of seconds. Reaching up to her tie, she gave it a loosening tug…
The phone rang.
A figure swung out from the far kitchenette wall. In one smooth motion Emily drew her firearm and began to advance, putting two rounds into it only to cause a stagger. Kevlar. Two more rounds kept them off balance long enough to reach, planting her right gun-equipped forearm against their throat while her left hand scooped up their right knee, driving them backward with a yell into the fishtank. The phone rang.
Water exploded to the ground as Emily followed through with a left elbow to their jaw while she wedged her pistol underneath their protective vest and into their torso. Three rounds later, they went limp. Movement from behind, Aile’s door swung wide inward as the phone rang.
Before another could fully emerge, their feet were yanked backward from underneath them by a flicker of shadow, sending their chin into the floorboards and bullets into the ceiling. They were sharply dragged back into the dark of the ex’s room, sounds of screaming and tearing to follow. A sound this time, her door had been opened and a figure advanced down the kitchen toward the broken tank. Dropping her gun, Emily used both hands to leverage the dead body as a shield, spinning in place and advancing to the kitchen as the phone rang.
Three, four, five rounds were put into the corpse before it was tossed forward into the figure, knocking them off balance. Emily grabbed a dirty chef’s knife from the sink in a reverse grip and slashed at their gun hand, successfully disarming them before following through with a stab. The phone rang.
The larger body blocked the stab with their left, countering with a haymaker with their right. She grabbed the right hand as it passed by her head, spinning 180° and dropping to her right knee to use the force against them in a shoulder throw. They hit the linoleum floor hard, but followed the momentum through with their own throw, sending Emily back toward the fish tank. These are trained men… she thought while barely keeping her balance as she landed, looking back at the offender as he nearly finished standing back up. The phone rang.
She dove at the figure feet-first, sweeping their right foot while kicking their knee, sending them back downward and smashing their head off of the cheap granite countertop, dazing them. With the second she gained from the daze, Emily threw herself on top of the figure, knife poised over their throat, but was met with resistance. The phone rang.
With one more heave, she put all her weight on top of the knife, driving it deep into their collarbone and ending the fight. Adrenaline slowly draining from her system, Emily sat up from the limp body to catch her breath against a cabinet door, eyes still adjusting to the dark residence. The phone rang
It didn’t ring again. She stood to grab it from its receiver on the countertop, stumbling back toward the fish tank to the window before lifting it to her ear and answering it. She had no greeting, still breathing heavy from the encounter. “Hello? Ms. Stanton? Is that you?”
Emily’s eyes narrowed, swallowing hard and slowing her breaths. “How do you know that name? Who is this?”
“No,” The voice, somewhat androgynous and low in tone, responded, “I could go on about how I know who you are, why I know, but frankly… You don’t need to know, and you don’t have the time to hear.”
”Excuse me?” Emily was in no mood for crank calls, responding with anger as she reached for a nearby light switch.
I told you, and I won’t tell you again, those details don’t matter so much! There’s a knife between your shoulderblades and now they’re coming for you, is what matters most.”
“Who’s coming-” As Emily turned the light on, she answered her own question.
In her kitchen laid two familiar police officers, killed by her own hand.
Emily stood in silence above the bodies, phone down to her side as the voice continued. “Some people have smelled blood in the water, you know… There’s a certain incident of a few months ago, involving a man you hated more than most in this city could rival. If they haven’t already, surely now you have men chasing after you for the crime of but doing what you think is necessary. I can say from experience, then, that they will be relentless, they will not stop until you are dead or in your clutches… So, then, the game is afoot! Sincerely, I wish you the greatest of luck, and wonder who will win out in the end.”
Noise from outside the apartment door, heavy footfalls of at least a half-dozen people. Still fixated on the bodies before her, a shadowy form flew to the door and swung it wide, four more following it out into the hall as screaming and gunfire erupted. Emily raised the phone sharply to her mouth, speaking through gritted teeth.
”Dead or alive,” She looked out the window across the broken tank, seeing the outline of Los Fortuna’s skyline against the night sky. ”I’m not abandoning them.” Hanging up the phone, she went to grab her jacket.
Midnight Sun University Town - A soundproofed room above CaraMel’s Confectionery (Closed for manning the Taste of Fortuna!), earlier that day
“We are not storming the Slum Queen.” A short, heavyset figure in a black pantsuit and pink headscarf spoke with conviction. Though Venus York was always somewhat even in tone, a calm jovial presence, Aaron Kirk had quickly learned while shadowing this meeting that when she took something seriously, she could get extremely stubborn.
And she was the only person in the room against this who had spoken their mind.
Seated next to Aaron was the man he was watching alongside, the new dean of the art school, Theodore Lloyd, the droll 30 something idly playing with the ears of his yellow aviator cap. “I understand your caution, York, and before, I would have been inclined to agree, but you have seen how the situation has changed since then.”
“Standing in the way of progress, she is…” A woman in a green suit and top hat agreed, filing her nails with a file shaped like a dollar bill. Million Dollars, she had been named… Something about her kinda pissed Aaron off. “Now that we’re at a fever pitch, it’s a perfect time for a change in management, a chance for them to move up in the world, don’t you think?”
“We shall strike her down with the wrath of the gods!” A positively ancient man in a robe and round glasses with a big white beard said, waving a wooden staff in a way that made the others recoil away. Aaron knew Professor Drankwater, of course, and his first impression of him hadn’t changed at all. “Revenge, then, shall be ours!”
Aaron blinked, then, confused about the meeting in question, not helped by the fact that two members - Oh No and CaraMel Dansen - were totally absent. “Wait, what’s this about revenge? I, uh… haven’t gotten the memo yet.” A fact he was slightly annoyed with Teddy about, but by how he spoke, it was deeply confidential - ‘leave our cell phones in the other room with batteries out’ confidential.
“Do not call it revenge,” a middle-aged man with red-tinted round glasses and a nice suit, Chief Prosecutor Cavallo, chided his friend, “what we will be serving here is ‘justice,’ even if the victim is high-profile, and a friend of ours… A sign in a time of great strife that we will not tolerate the injustices Stand Users do, let alone from those who try to force others out and call it right.”
“Justice…” Aaron blinked. “Wait, do you mean-”
“Yes…” Cavallo answered, pointing with his walking stick/mic stand to a wall-mounted TV screen and pressing a button to fire it to life. “It’s taken months, but I have found evidence sufficient to reopen the case of the death of André Tifáni.” He then shook his head, grimacing. “No, that’s underselling it… What a source of ours, a set of eyes in the slums close to the queen has managed to get his hands on is a damned smoking gun! Peer here the security footage some surely-corrupt officer said showed no signs of foul play!”
Aaron peered at the screen, then, as the smoky security footage of the night André died, the street where he had been walking, where there now was a destroyed construction site and small memorial before him, showed the middle-aged man walking on the sidewalk close to it, struggling some with a very heavy bag surely full of art supplies.
Abruptly, then, André paused in front of the site, over a precarious piece of building, and as he did, a mechanical beast resembling some fearsome dog suddenly ran out from the street in front of him, passing by a motorist and diving straight for his leg as he crouched down. He winced, then, producing the onyx hook he had always carried with him and planting its edge in the ground to regain some balance, but as he did so, several identical looking dogs had already begun, and the tallest structure hanging over the fences of the site began to fall forward as the dog at his leg ran away. André glanced up at the falling structure…
Out of concern, Aaron looked to Ted; he actually looked like he might be ill suddenly at the site, but Cavallo paused the footage, saying “…I don’t need to tell you what came next. Everyone in this room has seen it once already, and myself over a dozen times. Furthermore, I had asked to personally see to a second autopsy being conducted on Andrew Tiffany’s body, deeming the first one an insufficient rush-job, and personally oversaw it alongside Professor Lloyd here.”
“There being a dog bite on his body had been deemed irrelevant as it wasn’t related to the cause of death, but…” Lloyd caught his breath then, nodding, and Aaron couldn’t help but think about how distraught the man was. “I used my Stand, ‘To Make Believe,’ which can identify and categorize unique Flow 24 signatures on persons and objects, even simply ‘remnants of effects,’ and when I examined the wound, I saw… There were ‘traces of Stand’ on the wound, and no DNA whatsoever… And a Flow 24 signature I had never categorized before, too.”
Dog bites and slipping under the cracks… Aaron wondered, remembering the stream Casey had been put up to, then shaking his head. No, that girl had no reason to do this… And the footage is right there.
“Something on your mind, Professor Kirk?” York asked, clearly frustrated with everyone else being in favor of this. “If you have something in mind, say it. This is a space to speak freely here.”
“Nothing,” he answered, putting the thought out of mind, “just… Running through the facts in my head, is all.”
“I see,” she said, sounding disappointed, “but regardless… This all feels too convenient to me, I don’t know. And besides, you don’t know what will happen if we remove her carelessly.”
“If she faces justice for what she has done, men like John Aurel and Mr. Jones and the entire damn underground Oh No has been working on busting up will know that they’re next! This is a greater example than we will ever have again,” Cavallo answered, slamming the table with his hand.
“Speaking of him.” York answered, “I’ve talked this over with No and Dansen both already, since for their reasons they couldn’t be here… But they’re opposed to this as well.”
“Your only allies here are one who hides in the shadows and one who is but a girl, too caught in her frivoloties to make such a meeting in her own abode!” Drankwater shouted, whapping the floor with his stick.
“It’s 4-3 us,” Dollars agreed, “you’re not gonna steer us off this path, Yorkie. The only person in this whole damn city with a motive to kill him… Checks out to me. Unless you mean to suggest this really was some freak accident. And anyway, since when are you the type to advocate for the status quo? Your ex-wife rubbing off on you?”
“…” York looked visibly frustrated, only to calm herself, but Aaron could see that that comment made her pretty damn close to socking the business professor. “Fine, then. But keep it covert, do not let any of this leak, take her alive, and for the love of God, leave VALKYRIE completely in the dark on this. I do not trust what ODIN will do if they catch wind of any of this early.”
“That, uh… Sounds reasonable, anyway,” Aaron answered, part of him empathizing with her certainty against this even if, to be frank, he was on the side of everyone else here. He’d known Andrew Tiffany personally, if only briefly, and though he knew Theodore Lloyd hadn’t gotten along with him well in years, he had spent enough time around him to know he was devastated by all of this too. If they were certain they’d found his killer, then why wouldn’t they do everything in their power to hunt her down?
“If you need someone to do the dirty deed here,” he added, looking to Cavallo, “someone on command for if the police can’t arrest here… I’ve done some things in the past I’m less than proud of, and though I would still like more than anything to leave that part of myself behind, maybe it could be used to do some good around here. And though I didn’t know him as long as any of you, Tiffany really did believe we were good for the world. So, shit, why not? You know… For André.”
Ted smiled, looking… Seriously grateful. “I was… Hoping to ask you that when I invited you here. If you refused, I would’ve taken up the post myself, but honestly… I can’t bear the toll of being a part of this case anymore.”
“Hey,” Aaron said, patting his shoulder, “this is what the MFAs do.”
Slums District, Northside, 1:33 A.M.
“Our continuing story, evidence broke late yesterday afternoon regarding the death of one André Tifáni, beloved dean of the College of Arts at Midnight Sun University, connecting the untimely death to a possible murder plot. Video evidence from an unnamed source has linked “The Gambler”, the previously unnamed, enigmatic head of the infamous Bakker Syndicate, to the scene of the crime shortly before the dean met his untimely end amidst what police ruled an industrial accident earlier this year.
Details at this moment are scarce, but a breaking investigation has identified the reclusive crime lord as one Emily Stanton, former Assistant Chief of Police for the LFPD, who was discharged years ago amidst a series of corruption allegations and disappeared from the public eye. A representative from the Temple of Syrinx situated in Syndicate territory has denounced the criminal organization, calling their presence in the area a “thin veil of bribery to mask a regime of evil.” Motive for the slaying has yet to be verified. In other news, a jaguar was spotted yesterday along the western canal-”
Funk removed the cheap headphones as her purring motorbike came to a stop, tossing the almost ancient walkman radio into a nearby ditch. She had picked it off the Syndicate toughs she ran into about an hour ago in her search for information, hoping to tap into the gang’s calls with it, but had settled for the latest news report. The Rat Pack had become privy to that very same news story before it first broke hours ago, and Funk intended to be the one to purify the city free of the rotten group for good. After all, where better to start than cutting off the head?
It wasn’t too difficult to locate some members while patrolling the slum’s streets; the two suited men were hassling a homeless man near an alleyway.
“A lot of strange things have happened in this alleyway, haven’t they, huh?” One asked, lifting him up. “Funny that, huh… Tell me, how long have you been around this-”
The man was interrupted by an introduction to Funk’s metal pipe.
The other, left still able to speak, cracked pretty easy after taking a couple hits to the shin, mentioning a rumor that the boss had been frequenting a scrapyard near the industrial district lately, something about a secret hideout, blah blah blah, sentimental shit that meant nothing to her in light of what she knew this person was behind.
So there she was, parked in front of the only junk heap for miles without a light to be seen, the only sound aside from the motor of her bike a distant human mumbling. She let out a quiet whistle. “Fuckin spooky…” Killing the power, Funk walked her bike into the open fence of the entrance, eyes and ears alert.
Minutes later, between a couple large mounds of crumpled cars, the biker felt a presence. The shadows around her seemed to dance between themselves; she could swear she caught movement out of the corner of her eyes a few times, but saw nothing but motionless piles of junk upon focusing. The mumbling grew clearer as she advanced through the area, and upon passing one more mound, found a tall, curly haired man sidled against a broken fridge peering down the hallway between them.
Wait, is that… I’ve seen this person around! Both of them thought, roughly, at the same time, each figuring, then, correctly, that the other was after Stanton.
A hushed greeting was caught in Funk’s throat as a pixelated figure materialized from the man with its finger to its mouth, shushing her silently before she could speak and pointing to where the man was spying. The biker was confused, but obviously Aaron had no connection to who she was searching for, and clearly had no intention to be found by her either, so both agreed to the truce with little more than a quiet nod. Sidling against a crushed sedan on her side of the wide path, she peered at the scene Aaron had gestured to.
A short woman was pacing in front of a mound of derelict amusement park rides, tracks in the compacted dirt suggesting she had been doing so for awhile, speaking to it as if it were a group of close friends. Smoke billowed from her mouth as she spoke between frantic drags of a cigarette in one hand while gesturing with her speech wildly with the other.
“...it’s not like I blame her for leaving, like she said I can’t be around as much as she needs, but you’d think she’d be a little more understanding, you know? Things have been hell lately; there’s stand usin’ sea monsters at the waterfront, a stand usin’ murderer in the suburbs, stand usin’ laundry bandits, even a fuckin’ Puma for god sake. I…” The woman sighed, turning to the heap of scrap with a long drag to finish off the cigarette. “I’m reaching my limit here. I know I made a promise, but I didn’t expect history to repeat itself so soon. Everything is going up in smoke so fast, I just...” She flicked the cigarette butt toward the ground, holding her head with the other hand and sighing. “I’m sorry. I’m failing all of you. It’s gonna happen again, and I don’t know if I can stop it on my own.” She glanced up at the towering wreck of a ferris wheel, letting a moment of silence hang over the area before reaching into her pocket.
The two interlopers glanced at each other in confusion. Neither had the faintest idea what the woman was on about, all they knew was she seemed distracted. Aaron had been hesitant to advance on the armed gangster by himself, but with another stand user looking to bring the murderer to justice, his brain began racing for a plan of action. Funk could hardly contain herself any longer, rubbing her weapon of choice eagerly while glancing between her target and her temporary ally waiting for a good moment to get the party started. She had one of the biggest names in organized crime in the city within Piping distance, and she’d be damned if she let scum like that get away.
”Damn decent of you two to let me finish.” The short woman let her gaze drop to the ground as she loaded a cigarette to her mouth, lighting it with a quick flick of a zippo lighter as she continued. ”Or is this your sad attempt at an ambush?” Her body turned to look down the path she stood in, causing Aaron to slowly rise from his hiding place and Funk to leap out from hers.
”You got a lot to answer for, Stanton.” Aaron declared boldly, 「Mice on Venus」 poised in front of him, battle ready. The man struggled to keep his anger at the death of his colleague and mentor in check, swallowing hard and keeping his voice steady. “You can’t terrorize this city from the ‘shadows’ anymore… Time to get dragged into the ‘light.’”*
”That’s right, you fuckin’ scumbag!” Funk pointed her pipe at the gangster, starting up her bike and giving it a loud rev. ”The city’s gonna be way better off with you out of the picture!”
Emily chuckled. ”You really believe that, don’t you?” She took a few steps forward, putting away her lighter and keeping the hand in her pocket. She continued, voice slowly building in ferocity. *”The only thing I’m guilty of is cleaning up the mess this city refuses to owe up to. A mess that you fuckin’ stand users are all to blame for! And how am I thanked?!” Her roar echoed through the yard as junk from the mounds around them began to shift. Four quadrupedal figures began to stand out against the scrap, smoke billowing from their eyes as they climbed to the top of their respective positions. “They send two of the guilty ones themselves to silence me for good.”
Aaron shouted back. ”You’re talking nonsense!” He gritted his teeth, fighting the urge to rush the woman with everything he had. Funk had nothing to add, simply climbing on her bike to prepare for a charge. He continued, ”You destroy this city from the inside, but claim to be the greater good while killing the innocent?”
Emily shouted back, voice quivering, ”I’ve given everything for the power I have! The power to sway fate from disaster! If you aren’t working to prevent it from happening again...” A large, metallic canine materialized from behind the enraged Emily, eyes glowing a dark red as it bowed low in a growl.
”...you may as well be causing it!” The woman wiped moisture from her eyes as she drew her firearm, keeping it close to her chest as she aimed at the two aggressors.
“Now get out of my way, or We will bury you.”

2020.04.28 23:16 inthelptor Latency Spikes during most hours

Hi all,
I am very much oblivious to networking so please try to eli5 whenever possible.
I'm located in Toronto and I am on Rogers' Ignite Gigabit plan and I am using their modem/router, Hitron CODA-4582U. I have a lot of extra time on my hands since the quarantine and I like to play some games on my PS4. I noticed that for most of the day (~noon to ~10PM), I experience latency spikes across various games. I will jump from a steady 60-80ms to over 150ms every few seconds. It's ongoing. However, such spikes typically do not happen late at night or early morning. I've read in a previous thread that it could be due to my modem having a PUMA 6 chipset, but it's questionable if that's the only cause since it seems to be dependent on time (though I have experienced spikes during "off times", just less frequently). My partner does stream movies/TV shows but we tried an experiment where she stopped streaming, I reset the modem, and it did not seem to make a big difference.
I'm wondering if bridging my modem and buying a router will help at all - or is this an issue that I need to take up with the ISP?
I also live in a basement apartment. Does this affect anything? Again, I'm clueless.

Thanks for all the help. Please let me know if you need any more info and I will provide what I can.

edit: My PS4 is connected directly to my modem. Not WiFi.

2019.12.31 08:08 Lones1 MLW Zero Hour will feature AAA talents Drago & Puma King vs. Hijo de LA Park & Taurus vs. Injustice in Dallas, TX

Major League Wrestling today announced a triple threat tag team match: Drago & Puma King (AAA) vs. Injustice vs. El Hijo de LA Park & Taurus for MLW: Zero Hour at the NYTEX Sports Centre in the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth area on Saturday January 11. The event will be a MLW FUSION TV taping for beIN SPORTS.

Tickets start at $15 at http://www.MLWDallas.com.

The AAA x MLW collaboration will kick off in Dallas with a triple threat bout that promises to feature plenty of sky combat. AAA’s Drago and Puma King will collide with Injustice (Jordan Oliver & Kotto Brazil) and the team of El Hijo de LA Park and Taurus.

Meanwhile, Injustice, who have been vocal on social media about their quest for a shot at the tag team titles, eyes a big win on an international stage. For if Oliver and Brazil can get the win, their pursuit of an elusive championship bout becomes very realistic for early 2020.

But in order to do so, they’ll have to face the unpredictable Puma King. The ferocious feline luchador has proven to be a wily challenge to some in MLW, where he holds wins over the likes of MJF.

His partner, Drago, looks like a creature out of Game of Thrones and is in fact an anime come to life! With his ghoulish long tongue that spits an unknown substance and his astonishing arsenal of moves, Drago is one of the more fascinating AAA luchadores.

A win for the AAA team could fast-track an inter-promotional tag team title match… but the wildcard in this encounter could be the hard-hitting Hijo de LA Park and Taurus. Two rampage luchadores known for their physical style and aggression, these two vow to show their dominance in Dallas.

With all three teams vying as challengers for the Von Erich boys’ World Tag Team Championship, this triple threat bout promises to be a high-stakes, high-octane encounter.

Find out LIVE January 11. Tickets start at $15!

Purchase your tickets today at MLWDallas.com and see MLW’s return to Dallas live

2019.12.15 04:15 Garizard1 AAA Guerra de Titanes (2019) Live Thread

Didnt see one posted so I made my own (is that okay?). If one is being posted soon no problem but the show has already started (https://m.twitch.tv/luchalibreaaa).
Aramís, Dinastía, and Octagoncito vs. Mini Psycho Clown, Arez, and La Parkita Negra Trios match
Niño Hamburguesa, Mascarita Dorada, and Mr. Iguana vs. Demus, Villano III Jr., and Látigo Trios match
Taya Valkyrie, Faby Apache, and Octagón Jr. vs. Poder del Norte (Mocho Cota Jr., Tito Santana, and Carta Brava Jr.) vs. Abismo Negro Jr., Ayako Hamada, and Keyra Three-way Lumberjack Trios match
Brian Cage, Puma King, Murder Clown, and Pagano vs. Killer Kross, Taurus, Texano Jr., and Chessman Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Atómicos match
Lucha Brothers (Pentagón Jr. and Fénix) (c) vs. Angélico and Australian Suicide vs. El Hijo del Vikingo and partner TBA Three-way Tag team match for the AAA World Tag Team Championship
Big Mami vs. Lady Maravilla Lucha de Apuestas, Hair vs. Hair match
Psycho Clown, Dr. Wagner Jr., and Drago vs. Blue Demon Jr. and Dinastía Muñoz (La Bestia del Ring and Rush El Toro Blanco) No disqualification Trios match
The big angle on this show is Big Mami vs Lady Maravilla in a hair vs hair match. This rivalry has been going on nearly a year. Lady Maravilla started flirting with Big Mami's mixed tag team partner Nino Hamburguesa so to cost their team matches. Eventually Big Mami and Nino Hamburguesa lost the mixed tag titles to Lady Maravilla and Villiano III Jr. So Big Mami has challenged her to a hair vs hair match. Also their is the broadcast debut of Rush in a new faction with LA Park and Konnan determined to bring down AAA (Konnan does this gimmick alot.).
Here is a great write up : https://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2019/12/13/aaa-guerra-de-titanes-2019-preview/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter.
As always in Mexico, card subject to change.

2019.08.04 00:00 detroitlibertype Pre Tiplemania XXVII Discussion Thread August 3, 2019

Tonight Mexico's equivalent to Wrestlemania airs Free of charge on Twitch in English and Spanish. Scheduled to Start 8:00 p.m. CT. (AAA is notorious for starting late.) ___________________________________________________________________________________

Source: Last Word on Sports

Arguably the most popular lucha promotion in Mexico, AAA Lucha Libre, has it’s biggest event of the year and the card for it has been released with 7 solid matches mixed with star-studded performers from other promotions and a former UFC Heavyweight Champion making his debut on the big show, headlined by a main event of historic proportions. TripleMania has always had a variety of entertainment for their marquee show and this year does not disappoint as All Elite Wrestling, IMPACT Wrestling, and UFC will be in the house, and to top it off, we may very well see the end of a much legendary career after the show. Here’s more below.
___________________________________________________________________________________
Mascara Contra Cabellera (Mask vs. Hair Match): Blue Demon Jr. vs. Dr. Wagner Jr.
In a match between two legends who have close to a combined 3000 matches between each other and close to 70 years of experience between the two, the legendary Dr. Wagner Jr. will face off with the legendary Blue Demon Jr. in what could be one or the others last match of his career. For some time now, the two have had a bitter rivalry so bad that near every time they get their hands on each other, it’s a blood bath. The two men are competing for more than a match as they’re competing for their legacies. At last week’s TripleMania conference, both men got personal with each other to a boiling point where Blue Demon used his cane to hit Galeno Del Mal on the side of his neck and made contact with Hijo De Dr. Wagner Jr.‘s esophagus with the cane at one point, resulting in AAA Executives Konnan and Dorian Roldan. More recently, however, both men have made the claim that if either of them loses, it will be the end of their career. Could we really see the end of a career here? We’ll see.
___________________________________________________________________________________
The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) vs. The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) & Laredo Kid
Last month, we saw the return of one of the most powerful factions in the world, The Elite – Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks – battle The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix), along with Laredo Kid in what was an instant classic trios match at AEW Fyter Fest. Now the pair of trios go at it again in a battle of brand supremacy as AAA versus AEW will take place at TripleMania. The story here is not so much the ongoing battle between The Bucks and The Lucha Bros., but the wild cards here in Laredo Kid and Kenny Omega. Laredo Kid who has more recently been on a phenomenal run in AAA since his return to the company, and then Kenny Omega, dubbed the best wrestler in the world by many making his debut in Mexico. The real winners in a match like this will be the AAA audience when they get to see a once in a lifetime performer like Omega compete at the promotions biggest event. How will the audience receive the match and The Elite? And who will be able to win and call their promotion the best?
___________________________________________________________________________________
Psycho Clown, Cody Rhodes & Cain Velasquez vs. Taurus, Texano Jr. and A Surprise Partner
Los Mercenarios have devastated and ran rough shot all over AAA for many months, with them destroying LA Parkas son at one point without him having a real chance to fight back. Psycho Clown, who many believe is the Ace of AAA Lucha Libre, has had enough, and he brought in some major reinforcements. Cain Velasquez, and Cody Rhodes. Cain Velasquez, for those who do not know, is the former UFC Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Title in a very decisive victory at UFC 121 knocking out Brock Lesnar for the win. It is not even arguable that for someone to be able to do that to a once in a lifetime athlete like Brock is someone to keep an eye on. Cody, just off of a brutal match with Darby Allin at AEW Fyter is still fresh of a historic match with his brother Dustin Rhodes at AEW Double Or Nothing. Cody comes back to AAA to hopefully get revenge on Taurus who wound up spearing an injured Cody at Rey De Reyes earlier this year. And while Psycho Clown's team seems like a no brainer for the win here, there is still the question of who will their opponents choose to join the match. There are many names out there that could easily change the tide of this match, with rumored names such as LA Park, Killer Kross, or someone else. One thing is for sure, this match is going to be history making.
___________________________________________________________________________________
Reina De Reinas Championship, TLC Match: Lady Shani vs. Tessa Blanchard vs. TayaValkyrie vs. Faby Apache vs. Keyra vs. Chik Tormenta vs. La Hiedra
Keyra, who recently just won the title from Lady Shani at Verano De Escandalo (Summer of Scandal), has her biggest title defense to date and probably of her career as she defends her title against six extremely talented opponents who will do so much to win the title, that a wrestling match wasn’t enough for them. AAA has upped the ante here in what could be the match of the night as the talents and wit of each lady is put to the test. How will Keyra come out of this match? Will she be able to retain the title? If she does, could she right away be considered the best luchadora on the planet? or will we see Taya regain the title she made history with when she was champ for close to 1000 days during one of her reigns as the Reina De Reinas champ, or, could we see the “Undeniable” Tessa Blanchard walk away as the champion?
___________________________________________________________________________________
TripleMania Cup: La Parka, Pagano, OGT’s, Puma King, Aerostar, Drago & More
In the second annual TripleMania Cup match, a match some can compare to the Andre The Giant Memorial battle royal, the TripleMania Cup will be up for grabs as some of the featured stars have already been mentioned, there are many more competitors who will take the stage to have the opportunity to be called the winner of the TripleMania Cup.
___________________________________________________________________________________
Hijo Del Vikingo, Mysteziz Jr., & Golden Magic vs. Mocho Cota Jr., Carta Bravia Jr., & Tito Santana vs. Pimpinela Escarlata, Maximo & Mamba
Technicos, Rudos, and Exoticos oh my! that’s the theme of the match as a variety of trios teams go at it to simply showcase their talents. There’s not much backstory here but you need to know is that this match should be one to showcase El Hijo Del Vikingo who has had a significant presence on the AAA roster and is a human highlight reel performing moves never before seen. Pimpinela Escarlata is a bundle of charisma salsa dancing to the ring as usual and looking for someone to kiss, like Maximo who does it in the ring. It’ll be interesting to see what each team has up their sleeve in an effort to wow the crowd on August 3rd.
___________________________________________________________________________________
AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship: Niño Hamburguesa & Big Mami vs. Sammy Guevara & Scarlett Bordeaux vs. Lady Maravilla & Villano III Jr. vs. Australian Suicide & Vanilla

In what is expected to open up the big show, a 4-way mixed tag match for the mixed tag team championship is sure to be an exciting one and possibly a dramatic one. For months and months, there has been some tension in the air between Nino Hamburguesa and Big Mami as the homewrecker, Lady Maravilla has tried seducing Niño Hamburguesa with food, and love. This has caused major problems for Niño and Big Mami as she had to issue him an ultimatum between her and Lady Maravilla. At the moment Nino is still Big Mami but what will happen at TripleMania however? will we see the Niño leave Big Mami for Lady Maravilla? Or will Lady Maravilla show her scandalous ways and find hers and Villano’s way to the mix tag team titles? How will the other two teams come into play? Stay tuned to TripleMania for what’s expected to be an action and entertainment-packed show.

2019.01.09 09:17 nsm1 Introduction to DDT Pro Wrestling

In light of the rumors of them partnering with AEW and their latest partnership with Fight Club: Pro as of January 3rd, 2019. Here's an introduction to the promotion at large.
Often western viewers have viewed them as a comedy promotion, but it kinda goes beyond that. There's a ton of variety that tries to cater to everyone.

Get Ready

  • Founded: 1997
  • Current Owners: CyberAgent (Abema TV, CyGames, Ameba blogs, etc.). Link will take you to a PDF about the entire company overview, it's massive.
  • Official Website: [www.ddtpro.com](www.ddtpro.com)
  • Streaming Service: [DDT Universe](www.ddtpro.com/universe) (free users can watch select matches in a weekly free matches playlist along with select specials that remain forever free)
  • [YouTube Channel](www.youtube.com/ddtofficial) (They post free matches and press conferences)
  • Live Translations in English: [Twitter @ddtpro_eng](www.twitter.com/ddtpro_eng)
  • Quick recaps in English: [Dramatic DDT](dramaticddt.wordpress.com)
For Tokyo Joshi Pro, follow this link for a detailed introduction (information as of June 2018)

Sister Promotions

DDT overall currently has 4 promotions within an umbrella. Each are contained within their own feuds and angles. Some wrestlers can cross over between each promotion for a match or 2. The 2 main ones are DDT and Tokyo Joshi Pro while Basara and Ganbare have an indie feel to it

Active

  • DDT
  • Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW)
  • Pro Wrestling BASARA - Successor to Union Pro Wrestling
  • Ganbare Pro Wrestling

Defunct/Inactive

  • DNA - DDT New Attitude, developmental brand to train new wrestlers and create their own feuds. Ended in August 2018 as the wrestlers were highly developed and the show wasn't needed anymore. Will return when new developmental talent is needed.
  • MUSCLE - a comedy focused show. Currently being revived for a special show in February 2018
  • Union Pro Wrestling - Indie variety, folded and became Pro Wrestling BASARA
  • BOYZ - An all female audience special show. Often showcasing the male wrestlers showing off their sex appeal
  • YaroZ - An all male audience special show. Often going into the lewd and perverted side of things

Partnerships with other wrestling promotions

DDT maintains a huge relationship with various promotions, past and present, in regards to bringing their wrestlers over to DDT for a one off match or sending their talent over. Some of the partnerships may have ceased already, but here's a list of promotions they've worked with.
  • Big Japan Pro Wrestling
  • All Japan Pro Wrestling
  • Pro Wrestling NOAH
  • New Japan Pro Wrestling
  • Dragon Gate
  • Sendai Girls Pro Wrestling
  • Gatoh Move
  • Marvelous
  • Kaientai Dojo
  • Michinoku Pro Wrestling
  • Pro Wrestling Wave
  • New Nemuro Pro Wrestling
  • Canadian Wrestling's Elite
  • And more

Structure of shows and extra info

DDT's major shows are usually held in Korakuen Hall (monthly) and Ryogoku Sumo Hall (2 times a year). While smaller shows they will tour around the country. The card is mixed between comedy and standard wrestling. Most of the comedy content happens up to the mid card (sometimes can main event as well), while the main events are strictly wrestling or a crazy stipulation match.
A few times a year, they will do Street Wrestling specials held in specific locations such as Theme Parks, factories, campsites, gyms, streets, etc. Often they're a self contained story and some feuds carry over (e.g. The Brahman Brothers murdered Mike Bailey at the campsite and they want to challenge for the Tag Titles next show)
There's also yearly special events such as Beer Garden Week, King of DDT Tournament, D-Oh Grand Prix Tournament.
Outside of the wrestling, some wrestlers make an appearance on Abema TV (Japanese Internet TV Platform) on TheNIGHT during the late night hours Thursday late night into Friday from 1am-3am JST where they just casually talk random things and do mini games. Often you learn more about each of their personalities and interests.
Beyond the promotion, they curently manage 2 bars and a restaurant. The bars are Drop Kick and Swan Dive, the restaurant is Ebisuko. Most of the wrestlers do visit for meet and greets or just have dinner there.

Championships

  • KO-D Openweight Championship - Their main singles title
  • DDT Extreme Champsionship - Their secondary title, but have unique rules
  • KO-D Tag Team Championship - Tag Team title
  • KO-D 6 Person Championship - For Trios tag teams
  • DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship - 24/7 Belt and can travel outside of the promotion.
  • Pro Wrestling Basara's Union Max Championship - Singles title
  • Tokyo Joshi Pro's Tokyo Princess of Princess Championship - Singles title
  • Tokyo Joshi Pro's Tokyo Pricess Tag Team Championship - Tag Team
  • Ganbare Independent World Junior Heavyweight Championship - Singles

Match types

These can vary depending on the current storylines
  • Singles
  • Tag (2, 4, 6, 8, 10) person
  • 3 way, 4 way, 5 way
  • DDT EXTREME Title Match - Current champion decides on the rules.
  • Battle Royal/Rumble match - over the top rope
  • Comedy - Mostly vary by wrestlers involved.
  • Falls Count Anywere - A grand chunk of their legendary Street Wrestling comes from.

Wrestlers

Due to the massive roster, probably better off placing a giant table on this. Most of the wrestlers can cross over between their sister promotions anytime.

2019.01.03 05:41 Ari_92 Pauly D Catch up

Ok so I am a little behind but I just finished watching marriage boot camp with aubrey and pauly. I was so focused on them the entire time because they seemed to be the one couple that truly did not belong together. (side note-I loved quani and puma!!). Anyways, it seemed to me like pauly genuinely cared for aubrey but had fallen out of love with her a long time ago. Aubrey is one of those women who will create drama or a problem so that their partner can validate them and make them feel good but one can only take so much of that. Its like the boy who cried wolf too many times. The last episode it seemed that Pauly was trying not to tear up, I felt it when he said did love her and maybe that was true. However he said the show made him realize that she was definitely not the one for him. Yet, I came across this article when they started dating and pauly stated, "We're looking forward to the next steps," "She's the one for me, so I'm looking forward to the next steps and waiting for the right moment to make all that happen" implying marriage. So, in 1 1/2 years can you really go from wanting to marry someone and thinking their the one to not at all? Was it really the constant fighting or was it never serious and they were just together for TV like they said in show?

(ps. I dont know why its called marriage boot camp if not all couples married.)

Tuesday Highlights(For some reason these got switched in order and are backwards going from the last gif of the night to the 1st. Luckily, the main event blew so if you get spoiled don't worry.)
Super Friday Arena Mexico Report!
Super Friday Arena Mexico Highlights
Things are rolling straight towards Anniversary which on September 14th will have it's 85th iteration. Last week had the card announced which as of right now doesn't seem like it'll be changing. Barbaro/Taven's 2/3 falls match Friday night did a great job of building that tag team match that will headline when Barbaro/Rush take on Volador Jr./Matt Taven for the hair.
Volador Jr. and Rush are two of the most protected guys in CMLL. Barbaro too since losing his mask in 2012 at the age of 18 has won 6 hair matches. So lots on the line in that match and Barbaro/Taven burning the house down Friday Night added excitement and intrigue for that main event. It was my #1 match for this week and I'll be getting spoilery in my following paragraph so be warned.

1.Barbaro Cavernario vs. Matt Taven (Friday)

This match was fantastic and has warmed me up on this tag team main event. It also helps that at this point it doesn't seem like it would make much sense for CMLL to call an audible with Anniversary less than 2 weeks away. This match was much more involved than you'd think a first singles match would be(was actually 2nd, first wasn't on tv though). With Barbaro and Taven reversing each other and Barbaro even pulling out Taven's penalty kick knee against him. Some people may boohoo the ending with Taven getting a cheap 3rd fall with a dick kick to Barbaro, but it seemed fitting especially considering Rush was coming in, in hopes of pile driving Taven. Ending didn't sour it for me and I'm glad it was a cheap pin instead of just a DQ. Lots of hair will drop on the 14th, will it be the royal gringo Matt Taven and face of the company Volador Jr. or ingobernables leader Rush and caveman alternative Barbaro Cavernario?

2.Casas Family(Negro Casas, Felino & Tiger) vs. NGD(Sanson, Cuatrero & Forastero)(Friday)

I love Negro Casas, I love Felino, I love Tiger, I love Sanson, I love Cuatrero, I love Forastero, I love rudos and I love dynasty warfare. This was incredible and Negro Casas always oozes charm. I'm not entirely convinced he isn't just the concept of charm personified. Him throwing down with anyone is notable, him battling NGD with his brother and nephew in his corner was PPV worthy. CMLL didn't put a price tag on this, but if they did I'd have paid it in full and do so smiling. The Casas Family walked away with the win here and in their post match interview said they'd love to come for NGD's Mexican National titles. If Negro Casas has one more reign in him(and Felino for that matter) this might be one of the best ways to go about it. The Casas family being more than deserving of a trios title run.

3.Mephisto(c) vs. Titan for the CMLL World Welterweight Championship(Tuesday)

Titan and Mephisto had another great title match. Titan came out of it with a hurt hand and is suppose to be effected for about a week with that. It was great and well worth a watch. They have great chemistry, but sadly despite belts changing hands a decent amount this year, Mephisto held fast and is still champion. Titan earlier this year also fought Soberano for his Mexican National Welterweight Championship, so perhaps Volador Jr. vs. Titan will happen before the end of the year for that 3rd Welterweight title in CMLL the NWA World Historic. I hope Titan get's gold, as he is no doubt one of the best guys in CMLL/Mexico/Wrestling in general. No doubt in my mind, thanks to matches like this where he gives it his all. I'd rather see him in the Universal Championship Tournament than say Mephisto/Volador Jr. and of course Volador Jr. won last years... so seems unlikely he'd win 2 years in a row. He'd be the first to do so and 2nd to win twice in general.

4.Blue Panther Jr., Black Panther & Audaz vs. Okumura, Kawato San & Virus(Tuesday)

I very rarely give 4 greats a week in CMLL. I felt it was needed this week though as all four of these matches were great. A fantastic week in CMLL considering there wasn't a PPV or some grand debut of a talent like La Park/Pentagon/Fenix. Sometimes CMLL plays their deck of card just right like this fantastic Panther Bros match. Kawato/Okumura normally have good matches, but when paired with the right good guys they can hit another level. Audaz is up and coming and of course Virus is a fantastic veteran who has been having great matches in CMLL for over a decade(Okumura too obviously). Just great fun, I hope these 3 tecnicos are still doing great in CMLL in 2030! So much great talent bursting at the seams of this match.

5.Ingobernables(Rush/Naito/Bushi) with Evil, Terrible, Bestia del Ring & La Comandante vs. Volador Jr., La Park & Diamante Azul(Friday)

Might go down at the match that is most remembered from this week. Naito/Bushi on CMLL TV for the first time since 2015/2013 respectively with both men becoming more known by American/Japanese audiences in that time. Arena Mexico seems up for it, but this match at times did devolve into brawling and wildness a little too often for some. I thought it was fun and Bushi vs. La Park is a dream match I didn't know I wanted until I saw them throw down here. The ending too was deflating. I think Park/Rush facing off when everyone wanted them to go one on one for Anniversary is a mistake. You're just reminding people of what they wanted... while not giving it to them.

Bonus cause I want a video link to Monday's show 6.La Peste Negra(Negro Casas & Mr. Niebla) & Templario vs. Matt Taven, Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja(Monday)

Similar to the same match that was in this spot last week, but switching Negro Casas/Mr. Niebla in for the demons. As mentioned in the #2 spot, I love Negro Casas and him throwing down with Matt Taven is something to behold. That's the main takeaway from this match.
Mr. Niebla stirred some controversy this week when Tuesday Night's main event went just about 2 minutes when an annoyed Volador Jr. threw away the match by unmasking Mr. Niebla... who apparently was in no condition to work.
That had nothing to do with this match, but I figured I'd mention it here since he was in the Semi-Main Monday night. CMLL has quietly pulled him from cards including Anniversary. They likely won't fire him, because he is tenured, but I do hope he is made to go to rehab or somehow address this issue.
If you want to see all the gifs I made feel free to check out the albums at the top. They should be easy enough to view with RES.

Did you watch CMLL this week? If you skipped out, I'd suggest checking out the entire top 5. Was really cool seeing Naito and Bushi in Arena Mexico. Hope they make the trip more often as this was plenty of fun if not that serious. Barbaro/Taven did a good job of building up their feud. They used so many counters here that I wonder if they will even face off much in that tag match and if they do... just how they will up the ante.
Let's get to next week's cards.

Monday Arena Puebla Poster

Opening trios are lower card guys from Puebla. Could be fun, I've liked Tigre Rojo Jr. in the past.
Audaz/Fuego/Stigma vs. Virus/Disturbio/Cancerbero in what should be a fun match. I have a soft spot for everyone in it with the exception of Cancerbero who's regular tag partner Raziel has poofed from the card. Likely a quite injury or suspension for something.
Krano/Volcano/Stuka Jr. vs. Mephisto/Luciferno/Ephesto, this is the CMLL TV debut of Volcano. Who is joining Kraneo's gorilla entrance gear faction. Volcano was on Informa a week or two ago and said his gimmick/attire/mask is Firefighter themed to honor those heroes who he has always looked up to with great pride. Excited to see him in action here.
Main event is bizarre for CMLL and will likely go long. Rush/Mistico vs. Sanson/Cuatrero vs. Ultimo Guerrero/Gran Guerrero vs. Volador Jr./Flyer in a 4 way Dynasty Tag match. Not sure what the rules will be. With 4 teams a 2/3 falls match seems unlikely. So perhaps this will be elimination? Very rare, so who knows. Seems like this might be a special show for Puebla since Anniversary is of course going to be in Arena Mexico.

Arena Mexico Tuesday Poster

Sangre Imperial/Sonic take on Camorra/Apocalipsis in the opening tag. Sonic impressed last week and might here too. Sangre Imperial is a legacy talent son of Sangre Chicana a lucha legend. He was in the New Values tournament earlier this year, but hasn't been on TV much sense. Still training and growing as a performer.
Electrico/Star Jr./Astral vs. Akuma/Espiritu Negro/Espanto Jr. should be fun. Rudos are a little under par, but all the tecnicos are up to snuff.
Marcela/Lluvia/Sugehit vs. Amapola/Metalica/La Comandante doesn't feel like it will impress, but the tecnicas might surprise us.
Rey Cometa vs. Tiger in a lightning match should be fun, I'll be pulling for Tiger. Added beef here in that Rey Cometa was unmasked years ago by Tiger's younger brother Puma. Puma left CMLL a few months ago.
Angel de Oro/Niebla Roja/Guerrero Maya Jr. vs. ShockeRey Bucanero/Felino, is a match I don't have high hopes for. I like Felino, but feel Bucanero/Shocker can often drag down matches. Oro/Roja/Maya too are tecnicos without much direction. They need something and a feud with the ShockeBucanero is not what they need.
Volador Jr./Azul/Valiente vs. Ultimo/Gran/Barbaro should be fun. Great rudo team and VoladoValiente are two of the most polished talents on the planet.

Super Friday Arena Mexico Poster

Opener is a Pegasso/Principe Diamante vs. Signo/Metalico, the rudos seem like they might be making an official team since they have been teaming super frequently. Principe Diamante has the most to prove here.
Microman/Gallito/Guapito vs. Chamuel/Perico/Mije in a mascot sized minis trios. Should be fun and these matches are rare. Might not be your cup of tea and won't be a 5 star classic.
Dalys vs Reyna Isis in a lightning match is interesting. Dalys losing here could lead to a title match. We might get a draw too though. Interested to see how it turns out.
Titan/Triton/Esfinge vs. Dragon Rojo/Hechicero/Templario should be a great match. Could be the best of the whole week if everything goes well.
Semi-Main is Gilbert el Boricua's(Gilbert The Puerto Rican) debut in CMLL. Many people may remember him as El Mesias/Ricky Banderas or as his alter ego Mil Muertes in Lucha Underground. He left AAA within the last year and has been freelancing. Finally he will show up in CMLL teaming with Negro Casas/Mephisto vs. La Park/Mistico/Atlantis. There have been lots of CMLL debuts this year and I'm excited to see where this lands in CMLL's debut match. Think La Park's re-debut in CMLL has taken the cake so far.
Send off Trios Main Event of Caristico/Volador Jr./Matt Taven vs. Rush/Barbaro/Bestia del Ring is likely the last time Barbaro/Volador Jr./Matt Taven/Rush will all be in the same match before 85th Anniversary happens the following Friday. It'll be exciting and heated, but might have a screwy finish as to leave everyone wondering what tag team will prevail at 85th Anniversary.
Hope You enjoyed CMLL this week, see you next week!

2018.04.15 02:13 Lostinyourears CMLL Weekly #15 : Mistico vs. Caristico, Dragon Lee vs. Mephisto, & Negro Casas vs. Soberano Jr.

Arena Puebla Report!
Arena Puebla Highlights
Tuesday from Arena Mexico Report!
Tuesday Highlights
Super Friday Arena Mexico Report!
Super Friday Arena Mexico Highlights
What a stacked week from CMLL! I wasn't really expecting much from the Friday show, but it really delivered above and beyond what I expected. The Coliseo tag team champions Esfinge and Triton really bringing it in their match Friday night in an excellent trios match. Lots of great matches and despite not having having a 4th show this week like they did last week. I have a top ten again this week! This will not happen all weeks, but this week was just bursting with matches because of Tuesday's tournament matches. So again, let's get to the best matches of this week in CMLL.

1.Dragon Lee vs. Mephisto(Tuesday)

In a match where Dragon Lee's older brother Mistico met a man he is destined to have a mask vs mask match vs some time down the line in Caristico, Dragon Lee stole his thunder by having a war with Mephisto. Both men came into this and leave this match as champions. This wasn't for gold, but pride after last week when Mephisto's team beat Dragon Lee's team 2-0. Which Mephisto accomplished by pulling on Lee's mask and rolling him up. They met one on one and it was just a grueling battle where both men shed blood, sweat and tears. No screwy finishes, just one of the best tecnicos vs one of the best rudos in a 2/3 falls match that was near perfect.

2.Dragon Rojo Jr., Okumura & Kawato San vs. Titan, Esfinge, & Triton(Friday)

An excellent trios match. No doubt the best from the week. Up there with last weeks #1 match which was a title match. This didn't have any gold on the line, but did include Esfinge and Triton who are current Coliseo Tag Champions. I could see them defend those titles vs Kawato/Rojo or Kawato/Okumura. Don't know if that would even be on TV since the tournament that Esfinge/Triton won to be crowned wasn't on TV. Really enjoyed this match and with the exception of Kawato missing a catch, this was a fairly flawless match and was given plenty of time to breath and work within.

3.Mistico vs. Caristico(Monday)

A first time ever between two guys who are destined to meet in a mask vs mask match down the line. Both being big enough to be an Anniversary main event for sure. People call Mistico Pirata(Pirate) for stealing the mask/gimmick. I don't agree and am entirely on the Mistico side of the fence. This is obviously a preview for a better match we will get later, but for a preview match it's great. I'm glad this had a finish that was clean and not a cop out. I expected something inconclusive and am glad CMLL didn't do that, cause it made the match better to have a real finish instead of dodging who to put over.

4.Soberano Jr. vs Negro Casas, lightning match(Friday)

Most other weeks this could have been the best match. It lands here at 4th, but is still great. Really this match and the ones above it are MUST WATCH! The ending of this match is what sorta makes it slide down the ranks. All the action is good though and both men impress. Though Negro Casas probably more so showing how good he still is at 58. He makes Soberano actually chain wrestle which isn't really his wheelhouse, but Soberano Jr. kept up with the old rudo. Hope these two get a full match, but I want to see Negro Casas have one on ones with any young tecnicos in CMLL to be honest.

5.Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia, Mephisto vs Caristico, Volador Jr. & Valiente(Friday)

A breakneck battle that goes a mile a minute. Probably could have used more time, but didn't need it because these guy are all so well oiled that they could do a match with as little or as much time as you give them. VoladoEuforia pair well and there is an excellent catch by Euforia in this match. The ending stretch arguably tries to do too much with everyone just hitting their signature moves before the 3rd fall. This is a 10 minute match and I think the last 90 seconds is just everyone doing everything. That might not be to everyone's liking, but the crowd was into it and the match was fun.

6.Coyote vs. Magia Blanca(Tuesday)

Best match of Block B. Wasn't the block final like one would hope. Coyote and Magia Blanca have both been around the opening bouts for the last few years. They had a good match here with Coyote mauling Magia for most of the contest. Great rudo work by him on the tecnico in white who would go over here, but basically by a last desperate measure that won him the match by the skin of his teeth. A good contest and hopefully next week's finals are better than this since it will be 2/3 falls instead of just 1st falls.

7.Magia Blanca vs. Principe Diamante(Tuesday)

Not the best match of the block despite being the final. Don't think it's far behind the #6 match, but Magia/Diamante don't really pair off well. They were basically twin looking here. I think a more contrasting finals would have been better like last week when FlyeYago had a very clear face/heel dynamic. That dynamic is missing here and makes this fail to feel as interesting as Blanca vs Coyote earlier in the block.

8.Dalys & Zeuxis vs. Kaho Kobashi & Princesa Sugehit(Monday)

This was a good change of pace from just all the trios. This match has happened before from what I remember, but this is luchadora action with the fat cut out. Nice to get a tag match instead of a trios. It helps break up what they have been doing with them. On Friday Sugehit and Seductora cut promos after their match and made a hair vs hair... that match wasn't very good. Sugehit/Seductora will be having singles luchadora match(apparently hair vs hair) soon... though it might not be better than just a trios match and isn't planned for any of next week's 3 cards.

9.Kraneo, Atlantis & Diamante Azul vs. ingobernables(Rush, Bestia del Ring & El Terrible)(Friday)

Kraneo comes out as a good guy for the first time in CMLL. It's a new dynamic to him and he seems to be the first real story for new ingobernables. We'll see how this goes in the coming weeks. ingobernables seem to hate Kraneo and Rush was a good rudo even powerbombing mascot Cuije onto his chubby pal Kraneo. Not a technical masterpiece, but worth checking out and doesn't overstay its welcome. Not many crazy spots with maybe the exception of Kraneo's splash out of the corner. Him having the big moment of the match too, punctuated his new tecnico status.

10.Templario & Espanto Jr. vs. Flyer & Oro Jr.o(Friday)

Much like how the luchadora tag is a nice change of pace, so is this. It's nice to see Oro Jr. on TV. Flyer and Templario seem to be basically rivals at this point with butting heads the last few weeks and Flyer getting falls over Templario both times. A good opening tag match, not that I don't like Raziel/Cancerbero vs Electrico/Astral. I just don't think they need to meet in the opener every week.
CMLL had a stacked week. I'm certain this tops last week by workrate. I do prefer last weeks new values tournament, but this Friday was much better than lasts despite not expecting much going in. Not sure how next week will look, we'll have to see when we look at the posters at the end of this CMLL Weekly. Here are the highlights from the week.

Super Friday Highlights :
Did you watch CMLL this week? If you skipped out I would suggest Coyote vs Magia from the New Values tournament as a pretty good singles matches, though really the star card from this week was Friday. Each show had a great singles match to watch so those are all must see and the Esfinge/Triton trios match from Friday night was an excellent 15 minutes of trios action. Probably one of the best weeks CMLL has had this year helped by a Friday card that was excellent for the last 70-80 minutes of action.
Monday Arena Puebla Poster
Luchadora match sees Zeuxis swapped for La Comandante which isn't good, however Sanely in for Sugehit will be a nice change of pace. Next match features Pantera Blanca, Gemelos I & II who we rarely see, not sure what to expect from those 3, but the other three are normally solid. Rematch from last week as Lee/Oro/Roja take on NGD again, last week was a bit underwhelming so hopefully they kick it up a notch here. Main Event sees mishmashed teams as Caristico & Atlantis team with rudo Negro Casas and likewise the other team sees Volador Jr. and Valiente team with rudo Terrible. Should be a good main event with all 6 talents being great workers.
Arena Mexico Tuesday Poster
Opener is a minis match like Monday. Next match sees Electrico and friends continue his feud with Raziel and Cancerbero without Astral on his team. Super Astro Jr. seems to be the none official 3rd place in the New Values cup as he is getting booked again on TV. The first person from that tournament who didn't go onto the finals to reappear on TV. Love Audaz and Star Jr. as well who he teams with so this match should be great. My #2 match for this week gets sorta another chapter as Esfinge and Triton take on Kawato and Okumura again with both teams trading for a different 3rd team member. New Value Finals is next and will hopefully be good/great. This is a chance for Flyer and/or Magia to show what they can do, hopefully it doesn't disappoint. Main event see's Caristico again with Dragon Lee and Soberano Jr. vs Euforia, Gran and Rey Bucanero. I feel Bucanero can weigh down matches sometimes, but with these 5 it shouldn't be that much of an issue.
Super Friday Poster
Opening tag has Epanto Jr./Oro Jr. again both trading out partners. Should be good, but feels weird to have Astral in a tag match without his partner Electrico. Yago is showing up again after his performance in block A of the New Values tournament. Panther Bros + Pegasso vs Puma/TigeTemplario could steal the show and will be loads fun. Luchadora match is copy and paste from last week... which is awful since last week wasn't very good. Dragon Lee vs Mistico should be great, hopefully it won't end in a tie. Could see either man winning. Caristico winning seems more likely and could add fuel to his feud with Mistico by beating his younger brother. Volador Jr./Angel de Oro/Niebla Roja vs Negro Casas/Barbaro/Ultimo could be great, lots of top tier talent. Main event is copy and paste which is a little lame. It was at least fun last week so hopefully they can do as good and better this week with that same set up.
Hope You enjoyed CMLL this week, see you next week!

Select Arena Puebla Gifs :
Various gifs from Tuesday's Arena Mexico show.

2018.02.11 23:45 Lostinyourears CMLL Weekly #6 : Bracket B of Incredible Pairs Tournament & Kano Kobayashi's CMLL broadcast debut

Monday Arena Puebla Report!
Monday Highlights
Tuesday from Arena Mexico
Tuesday Highlights
Super Friday from Arena Mexico
Super Friday Highlights
Puma is still away in Japan, but CMLL continued to work despite his absence. He'll be back next week and is on the Friday show. It was a pretty solid week all around for CMLL. Can't go wrong with any of these shows, but Friday was the best. Mostly because of the event going on Incredible Pairs, though Tuesday/Monday shows were both good too.
1.Angel de Oro vs Cuatrero(Tuesday)
Match of the week. It may not have the best ending, but it set up Angel de Oro vs Cuatrero mask vs mask match. With Angel de Oro throwing out the challenge post match and it being confirmed the next day in a press conference for March 16th. This match did a fantastic job of showing what these guys can/will do in a proper 1 on 1 match without giving away too much. For that it's my favorite match of the week in CMLL and really just wrestling in general.
2.Hijos del Infierno(Mephisto, Luciferno & Ephesto) vs Soberano Jr., Dragon Lee & Titan(Monday)
This is what trios action should be. Some face paced tecnicos vs a good established rudo force. Really good work from all 6 men and the highlight of Puebla action this week. Lots of people write off Puebla, but this match stands up with the best action CMLL had to offer this week. You'd be hard pressed to find a better group of tecnicos too. CMLL failed to when they ran Hijos in the main event Tuesday night, that match was good too, but Valiente, Caristico, & Niebla Roja aren't as fun as Lee/Soberano/Titan for me at least.
3.Caristico & Euforia vs Dragon Lee & Sanson first round tournament match(Friday)
This match was probably the most fun match of Block B, but the semi-finals match below was also really fun as well. This is the exact kind of match up you'd hope to get out of this tournament format. With Lee/Caristico getting to meet up despite the fact they are both good guys. Sanson/Euforia is also a good meeting, though not as hyped. Great action here in one of the more weighty tournament matches from this week.
4.Euforia & Caristico vs Rush & Terrible(Friday)
Bracket B semi-finals to crown a bracket B winner who will go on to take on winners of last Friday's bracket : Ultimo Guerrero and Volador Jr. This was a pretty fantastic outcome and a surprise. I thought for sure we were getting Euforia/Caristico onto the finals and to have Terrible/Rush instead is great. They had a fun interaction post match, which is the real reason this is here. The match itself was good, but mostly on here for importance to next week's programming and the intrigue of Terrible perhaps joining ingobernables.
5.Tiger vs Stigma Lightning Match(Monday)
Any other week this might be higher. I love a good lightning match and this one is actually continuing a feud between Stigma and Tiger. They both did a great job here. I particularly liked the ending which saw Tiger getting hit twice with Stigma's backpack finisher, which he rolled through! Hope to see this feud continue, and it likely will though it might switch to a tag feud with Stigma getting a partner lined up to take on TigePuma when Puma gets back from Japan.
All in all a packed week for CMLL. Really lots of great matches to watch for the week. Kawato is still around and was on the Tuesday show, but didn't make my top 5. Kaho also debuted and is probably just under my top 5. Her match was a great highlight for her though, hope to catch more of her work in the following weeks if they are on broadcast. I've heard her tour is going to be a month or two and she is currently holding the Reina/CMLL Jr. championship with Zeuxis holding the main title for the Reina promotion who works heavily with CMLL.

Incredible Pairs Tournament Bracket B highlights

Did you watch CMLL this week? If you skipped out I would suggest some of the tournament matches, Oro vs Sanson from Tuesday and Lee/Soberano Jr./Titan match from Monday. Really it was a good week all around, I'll be sad to see incredible pairs finish next week, but the final should be a fantastic match. The semi-finals could have been longer and better, but the moment at the finish of Bracket B is interesting and I'm excited to see where it leads.
Monday Arena Puebla Poster
Big match on the top of the card. Could be brilliant, will probably instead lead to a silly finish so they can do another match in Arena Mexico. Would love to instead see a clear winner followed by a title defense by the loser sometime in the next few weeks. It'll be interesting regardless of outcome. If Mistico/Rush/Sobernaro vs Demons isn't good/great, I'd be very surprised. Triton/Titan/Stuka match looks good as well. We will see if Kawato shows improvement here. Undercard looks pretty standard.
Arena Mexico Tuesday Poster
Main event seems poor, Hechicero teaming with Idol/Okumura should be fun. Marcela/Sugehit are both good tecnico/tecnico matches can sometimes be bland. We'll see if that's the case this time, ladies lightning match is refreshing. I'm hyped to see Audaz with the Panther Bros, they have Virus to contend with who seems to have his sights trained on Audaz. It's too bad Kawato won't be with him this time.
Super Friday PosteIncreible Pairs Finals
Man! This card is pretty stacked. Finals closing the show as you'd expect, Lee/Soberano/Angel de Oro vs NGD should be great as well, Atlantis/Azul/Caristico vs Gran/Euforia/Kraneo could go either way. Soberano/Niebla could be good, like stated above Tecnico/Tecnico matches can sometimes feel heatless. Kawato is teaming with Tiger and Puma... that could be a great faction. It's nice to see Kawato with a different group. He's also facing 2 people he hasn't on TV in Stigma and Triton.
Hope You enjoyed CMLL this week, see you Friday for the Finals!
